RD1 RadAware
The RadAware RD1 Pocket RF Exposure Alarm for quick detection of radiofrequency fields
Our RF exposure alarm
The RadAware RD1 Pocket RF Radiation Alarm

The RadAware RD1 is our Personal RF/microwave exposure alarm. Although there are now many meters and monitors that measure RF, there are virtually no sensitive personal RF/microwave exposure alarms.
The RadAware is designed to be left switched on, monitoring your personal exposure, and alerting you if it rises above your chosen level. It can be left on your desk, but it is also small enough to be carried in a pocket or bag. It is thousands of times more sensitive and detects more than twice the frequency range of other RF alarms we have seen. We designed the RadAware using our 25 years experience of EMF/RF measurements and research.
All of us are constantly being exposed to increasing levels of pulsing microwave signals from smart phones and their base stations, WiFi, DECT cordless phones, tablet PCs, games consoles, Smart Meters, supermarket checkout systems, etc. Now we also have the ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) sources that include most modern fridges, freezers, cookers, washing machines, etc. in your home. These are hidden microwave radiation sources that you will not easily be aware of and it is not practical to continously take readings.
The RD1 alarm automatically monitors for microwave RF exposure and alerts you when you are being exposed.

The RadAware alarm measures and reacts to signals in the frequency range used by most modern communication systems including most 5G frequencies. The RadAware measures the peak RF / microwave level 128 times every second. A separate green flashing LED above the on-off switch shows that it is working.
Exposure levels are shown on three LED lights and are also indicated by six different audible alarm sounds which can be switched off. The RadAware runs off an alkaline 9V PP3 battery. If used continously, the battery will last for about 3 weeks provided that it is not regularly sounding an alarm when the battery life will be shorter. There is an audible low battery warning. We suggest that people who want continuous monitoring use rechargeable batteries or a mains adapter (9 volt DC, available separately).
The sensitivity can be adjusted to suit your personal requirements and also the typical exposure levels in your environment by carefully turning the adjustment knob from very sensitive to least sensitive. It is normal to adjust it so that it is not continuously sounding the alarm.
The most sensitive setting covers the range: < 0.015 V/m (0.00006 µW/cm2) - 0.15 V/m (0.006 µW/cm2)
The least sensitive setting covers the range: < 0.3 V/m (0.024 µW/cm2) - 3 V/m (2.4 µW/cm2)
The adjustment is linear. Mid scale is approximately 0.15 V/m to 1.5 V/m
The actual alarm ranges are given in the Technical Specifications Table. The relative differences between the alarm levels are shown in the table below. The multipliers are the relative level to the first green LED.

The instrument is not waterproof and should be covered with a clear plastic bag if being used in rain.
Highly recommend the RadAware, works faultlessly, incredibly sensitive and consistent, I find it can be used as a very effective detector and with the 9v adapter a continuous monitor.
This piece of equipment lives up to expectations, far from disappointed.

This is a very useful tool that performs a different role to the Acousticom. The Acousticom gives you specific readings and, if you have the sound turned on, an indication of the source of radiation. It turns off after 3 minutes and the sound is loud. The RadAware does not turn itself off so it can be put in the pocket for a dog walk and give continuous feedback of the environment. On the most sensitive setting it triggers every emitting parked car and passing bus, in addition to the radiation from houses. The traffic lights have a different sound - clicking on low, more rapid on medium and a continuous tone on high. It is clearly audible but only for those standing next to it. I am finding it particularly helpful because my dog is inclined to get in a "fog" on his walk and these moments coincide with the highest radiation. I can walk more intelligently, if I can anticipate the problem to keep both of us at a safer distance.
Another useful benefit of the RadAware is for intermittent sources. You can leave it on in an otherwise EMF quiet room and observe signals at certain times from neighbours' properties to look for regular patterns and holes in shielding. It's convenient and easy to use. It also seems more sensitive than the Acousticom. Highly recommended.
